GPA review

With grades for the past semester being released today, it's time for the first ever Grand GPA Review. Here's how this works (to be honest this is kind of a silly idea and I'm not really sure how to go about it (potential part 2 coming) but this is what I've got for now): I am not ashamed of my GPA, but for the sake of the blog post, I am not going to reveal what I got. Rather, I am going to describe how I did in each of my classes in a way that I see fit, and you all will have the opportunity to try and figure out how I did overall. This will be a great chance for you guys to utilize the blog's comment section, which has yet to ever be touched by anyone. The person who makes the closest guess will be the winner, and will be endowed with my actual GPA score (maximum 2 guesses per person, minimum 2 participants). Also, I really hope none of this is pretentious, I just think it's funny to make y'all guess. I'm really not trying to make a big deal out of grades or anything, I know they can cause a lot of stress, I'm just tryna make a silly little game out of it. The next sentence will be capitalized for emphasis. THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS POST IS TO SEE IF I CAN GET PEOPLE TO COMMENT ON/INTERACT WITH MY SHIT, THE GRADES THEMSELVES ARE NOT IMPORTANT. Now, without further ado, here is how I did in each class, in the order in which they appeared on my academic record:

Environmental engineering: I would say I was pleasantly surprised by my grade in this class. I knew it wasn't going to be awful, because this class was somewhat of a joke (my "easy" class), but based on my performance on the homeworks and the exams, I didn't think I would do as well as I did. Of course, I knew my group's presentation was pretty stellar because our professor told us how much he liked it and how he only had one question which was pretty easy, whereas all the other groups were getting grilled. However, I had no idea if he'd like our paper, and I didn't think that the project was worth enough of our grade to boost me up to the grade I received, which I don't even think means anything or exists at our school. Anyways, I can't complain, and in fact, I'd say I'm quite happy with the grade I got.

Molecular and Cell Bio for Engineers: I'd say I got the grade I expected. This was a fairly low-effort class for me (I did most of the homeworks the day of), and I'd say that for what I got out of it I did alright. This class did bring up a lot of questions for me, namely in the sense that I still don't really get how biology works at all. This class was all about cells and all the reactions that cells do and whatnot. This is all well and good, but I just still don't really understand how all these different cells and proteins and organelles and other things all come together and make a person. Like it makes sense to me that there's a bunch of cells doing a bunch of chemical reactions all the time, but like I just don't really understand how I get free will out of that. I understand it to a certain point, but this class was not able to bridge the gap and so I was left just a bit confused. All in all, though, I did have fun in this class, as it was a place where I often found myself at my goofiest (at least relative to how I act in my other classes). I'll take the grade I got for this class, and hopefully the fun memories I made during this class will be what I take with me to the future.

Phase Equilibria and Stage-Based Separations: I don't love flexing academics, and frankly there's not really that much to flex most of the time, but I do just have to put out there that I got a 97% on the final for this class, which I'm very happy about. That being said, I didn't get as high a grade in this class as I would have hoped, and I'm almost certain it is all due to one singular homework assignment which I did very, very poorly on (my first exam score didn't help either). Still, nonetheless, I can be proud of the grade I received in this class, and I will. Edit: I don't like going back and editing these, but I'm rereading this right now (about 15 minutes after originally posting) and I just think this section is boring and dumb. Not really sure what else to add, so here's a review of the pasta I ate tonight. I got the tortellini from Palermo Pizza & Pasta, which was my great-grandmother's favorite restaurant and a place that I have many memories associated with but have not eaten at much in recent years. The tortellini is served in a garlic-cream sauce and is served with a slice of garlic bread. There honestly isn't too much to say about this dish other than it was pretty gas. Nothing extremely outstanding, but it was a good pasta dish that I could certainly eat many times over (I do love tortellini). Moving on...

Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer: Did you guys ever watch Interstellar? I don't know about you all, but at the end of that movie, I was just kind of like: what just happened? 'Cause like, I kinda got it, but on a much more real note, I didn't get it at all. I was following most of the way, not really understanding fully but definitely keeping up, and then he just goes inside the black hole and it's like, what??? Like, okay? Like, even if I did get it—which, after much thought and discussion, I feel like I kind of do—I still can't really wrap my head around it. That was essentially this class. I never really got it, but I did well enough all the way up until the end that I think it barely kept me afloat. The grade I scored on the final exam for this class was the worst grade I have ever received for a major assessment ever. I thought that this score had entirely tanked my grade, but it came to pass that I scored a letter grade better than I thought I would. Lucky me, I guess.

Quantum and Spectroscopy (Physical Chemistry): Imagine, if you can, math. Does it mean anything? Now imagine a particle. Does this mean anything? Now imagine doing math to solve for the probability of that particle being at any point inside a box. Now imagine that when you look inside the box, the probability that you calculated doesn't actually matter because the particle is only observed in one particular place. Now, imagine many many Greek symbols, throw them into some integrals, and pretend any of it even exists in the first place. I'm not sure if this is in any way an accurate description of this class, but it is safe to say that I didn't understand what was going on, and my grade was reflective of that.

Hope you guys enjoyed this GPA review, for those of you who read all the way to the end, I will give you a special hint, which may not actually be very helpful: my GPA was somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5. Good luck with your guesses, I'll be surprised if anyone actually comments at all.

Not sure who's gonna scroll this far, but if you do, I just want to apologize again if any of this was pretentious, and I'm sorry if it's in bad taste. I'll give you guys another hint though for scrolling this far, which is that I didn't get any grade below a C+.
